Correcting a mistake after submitting a job application
Identify the error and provide a clear, accurate correction promptly.
Identify the correction
Check whether the mistake affects your name, contact information, employment dates, education or attachment version. Keep the submitted and corrected versions so you do not introduce more confusion.
Contact the recruiter
Identify the role and application date, describe the correction and provide accurate details or an updated attachment. For example: “I noticed an error in the employment month on my CV; the correct date is [date].”
Keep a record
If the platform supports updates, follow its instructions; otherwise ask the recruiter how to submit a correction. Retain the message and response, and keep later interview or screening information consistent.
