How to follow up after a job interview in Hong Kong

Keep a record, ask for an update at an appropriate time and stay professional.

Record the discussion

Note your contact’s name, the role, key topics and the next step mentioned. If an answer needs clarification, prepare a short, accurate follow-up without adding claims you cannot support.

Use the agreed timeline

If the interviewer gave a decision date, ask politely after it has passed. If no timeline was given, allow a reasonable time. Mention the role and interview date, reaffirm your interest and ask whether there is an update.

Example message

“Thank you for discussing the product manager role with me on Tuesday. I enjoyed learning about the team and remain interested. Could you share any update on the next steps? Thank you.” Adapt this to your conversation and avoid repeated pressure.
