Changing jobs in Hong Kong: what to do with your MPF
Review your transfer choices and records when you leave an employer.

Locate your existing account
Identify the scheme, trustee and contribution account associated with your previous employer. Review recent contributions and investments, and keep your account documents when enrolling with your new employer.
Compare your transfer options
The MPFA explains that after leaving you can transfer benefits to the contribution account under your new employer’s scheme or to a personal account in an eligible scheme. Compare funds, fees and risks and confirm the process with the trustee.
Follow the notice and transfer
Employers generally must notify the eMPF Platform when employment ends; casual employees under industry schemes have different arrangements. The MPFA states that if the platform receives no instruction from you within three months after the termination notice, your contribution account becomes a personal account under the same scheme within the next 30 days; normally, those benefits remain invested in the same funds. Check your account and any transfer instructions with eMPF and follow the current MPFA guidance.
