Moving from freelance to full-time work in Hong Kong

Choose a target role
Compare actual responsibilities with skills developed through client projects. Do not present several clients or engagements as one full-time employment relationship.
Show project outcomes
Organise each project by date, scope, personal responsibility, deliverable and verifiable result. Where confidentiality applies, check that disclosure is permitted or use a clearly labelled fictional exercise. Anonymisation must also comply with the contract.
Review your commitments
Compare the role’s responsibilities, pay and hours with existing client contracts. Ask about outside-work and conflict-of-interest policies and honour current handover obligations.
CV example: identify freelance work honestly
Fictional example: “Freelance designer | project engagement | Feb–Apr 2025: clarified a campaign-page brief with the client and delivered a design with two revision rounds.” Use only facts you actually performed and may disclose. Separate clients and do not invent outcome percentages.
