How to follow up on a job application in Hong Kong
Ask for an update politely and keep multiple applications organised.
Check the hiring timeline
Record the application date and job title, along with any deadline or interview timeline the employer has shared. If the employer gave a response date, follow that timeline while continuing to seek suitable opportunities.
Write a useful message
Use the employer’s contact channel. State your name, the role and when you applied, then politely ask about progress and whether further information would help. For example: “Hello, I applied for the Product Assistant role last week and would appreciate an update. Thank you.” Avoid repeated follow-ups.
Plan your next step
Update your tracker and save interview times and document requests. If declined, thank the employer briefly and review the gap between your CV and the role. Continue pursuing other applications when there is no reply.
