Nursing jobs in Hong Kong: registration and work arrangements
Review registration requirements and prepare examples of clinical teamwork.
Source checked · Full registration or enrolment in general nursing for non-locally trained applicants
Check the role and registration
Review the advertised title, setting, registration or enrolment, language and experience requirements. For positions requiring Hong Kong registered or enrolled nurses, check the Nursing Council’s requirements. A registered nurse must hold a valid practising certificate to practise in Hong Kong. Applicants trained outside Hong Kong who are applying for full registration or enrolment in general nursing should review that specific route, valid overseas practising evidence and training documents. Their training and original registration authorities must submit verification as directed; the Council assesses each case and does not automatically recognise overseas registration.
Prepare clinical examples
Use examples without patient identifiers to explain handovers, risk recognition, communication and escalation. State your training and practice experience accurately; do not imply a qualification you have not obtained.
Discuss the work
Ask about shifts, department, training and supervision, and provide evidence requested by the employer. Overseas applicants should also check work eligibility and registration procedures.
