Understand total compensation
Compare more than monthly base salary. Ask about fixed allowances, bonus conditions, working hours and other benefits, and check whether figures are monthly or annual.
Prepare a reasoned range
Use the role’s responsibilities, relevant experience and verified market information to choose a range and your own minimum. When comparing data, check seniority, sector and the date of the information.
Example answer
“I would like to understand the scope and total benefits. Based on the responsibilities and my experience, I am considering a range of [your range], and I am open to discussing the overall package.” Use numbers you would actually consider and check the written offer.
