Finding a graduate job in Hong Kong without full-time experience

Turn coursework, internships and activities into evidence of relevant skills.

Search by skills as well as title

Search for Graduate, Junior, Assistant and Trainee roles, but read the actual responsibilities. Check training, job duties and application deadlines instead of relying on the title alone.

Show transferable experience

Choose examples from internships, coursework, volunteering or student organisations. Explain your task, approach and outcome—for instance, how you organised information, coordinated a team or communicated results. Include only work you actually did.

Build an application routine

Track applications and replies, reorder your CV for each role and prepare examples for common interview questions. The Labour Department’s Youth Employment Start offers services and publishes current activities.

How can a graduate find a Hong Kong job without experience?

Search for graduate, entry-level, trainee and assistant titles, then check each listing’s education, language, work eligibility and experience requirements. Some employers state experience as preferred and others as essential; ask if the distinction is unclear. Use real coursework, internship or volunteering examples to explain your contribution and relevance to the role.

Illustrative search-to-CV example

Suppose you want an operations assistant role: search that title and inspect each advertisement for scheduling, Excel and language requirements. If you actually helped organise a university event, describe your scheduling task, deliverable and collaborators. Do not claim proficiency with tools you have not used; replace this example with your real experience.
