How many holidays are there?
The Labour Department lists 15 statutory holidays in 2026; Easter Monday was added from 2026. Employees covered by the Employment Ordinance are entitled to statutory holidays regardless of working hours or length of service.
Holiday entitlement and pay
An employee employed under a continuous contract for at least three months immediately before the holiday is entitled to holiday pay. Check statutory holidays separately from any additional public holidays offered by your employer.
When a holiday falls on a rest day
The employer must arrange another day under the ordinance when a statutory holiday falls on a rest day. Alternative holiday rules also apply where work is required on a statutory holiday.
