Holiday entitlement and pay
Employees covered by the Employment Ordinance are entitled to statutory holidays regardless of service length. Holiday pay applies after at least three months under a continuous contract immediately before the holiday.
Understand the calculation period
The Labour Department describes holiday pay based on average daily wages over the preceding 12 months, excluding specified periods without full wages and their corresponding sums. Special arrangements apply when employment is shorter than 12 months.
Check your records
Keep pay, attendance and leave records and ask your employer for the calculation. Consult Labour Department guidance for alternative holiday arrangements if the holiday falls on a rest day or you are required to work.
